Academic editing

“A tripod: the student, supervisor and language editor" (Jacqui Baumgartner)

While elements of copyediting apply here too, academic dissertations and theses are examined so I edit these works extremely sensitively, using the comments function to raise concerns for your attention.

You can expect me to

  • use plain language principles to ensure that the meaning is clear.
  • flag sources which are not acknowledged in the reference list and references that have not been mentioned in text;
  • format your references according to the conventions used by your department, university or journal;
  • apply gender neutral language principle in line with current practice;
  • help you to make your meaning clear;
  • respect your ideas and your voice; and
  • communicate clearly.

Thank you very much for your exceptional work! How you managed to edit a thesis of more than 80 000 words in such a short period of time and still do a splendid job still puzzles me. Thank you for your advice on the citation.
