About me
Having a teaching background, learning in all its shapes and forms fascinates me. I enjoy helping others to express themselves more clearly and ensuring that their ideas are heard. I am no stranger to academia, having worked at Rhodes University as a teacher educator, examiner and moderator. I have also had some experience in the NGO world of community development, specialising in early childhood development. One of the delights of proofreading and copyediting is that it has taken me into diverse disciplines because the same language rules apply across all fields.
I have two post-graduate degrees in Education – a BEd (Hons) and an MEd from Rhodes University. I completed a Copy-editing and Proofreading Certificate from the SA Writers' College and I am also a member of the Professional Editors Guild (PEG). I continue to learn and improve my skills by attending editing courses and webinars as often as possible.
Well versed in editing examinable academic theses and dissertations, I have also worked closely with academic editors who publish books (see my list of recent work). During my free time you’ll find me with my nose in a good book, using my hands to create or hiking somewhere in our beautiful country.
There is no perfect time to write. There's only now
